My journey to datenight.com.au has been anything but straightforward. From being on the tools as an electrician to navigating political corridors, and most recently crafting viral food content, I’ve always been driven by a curiosity about connection and craft.

Growing up, our family meals weren’t exactly MasterChef material. Dad’s signature dish was potato pancakes, and mum’s go-to was chow mein. Nothing fancy. But something clicked in my early 20s – this weird spark of food passion that just wouldn’t quit.

Back in 2010, I started a blog called “a guy cooks,” a premature attempt for sure and although it didn’t gain traction then, that seed of passion for food content never truly died. *Insta would come along a year later.

My professional odyssey took me through trades as an electrician, then into the intricate world of Victorian politics, where I discovered unexpected parallels between trade union movements and political strategy. Each career taught me something profound about passion, storytelling, craft, and understanding communities and the places we live.

The pivot to food (if I can even call it a pivot) wasn’t just a career change – it was a calling. My TikTok channel became an unexpected platform, growing to nearly 200,000 followers and my Instagram channel growing to nearly 150,0000 followers. I wasn’t just sharing recipes; from 2019 I view it as I was creating experiences, connections, and memories.
